If there is one thing most personal trainers could wish for, I bet it would be more time or more hours in the day. A lot of trainers these days are entrepreneurs, so on top of training clients face-to-face, they are also running their own businesses. Add online training into the mix and if time is not managed properly, trainers can often find themselves burning the midnight oil creating programs for clients (both online and in-person) running on little sleep.
Good news guys! Trainerize has a great copying workouts feature that will help you save some time when scheduling workouts into your online training clients. If you have created a few generic workouts for different types of fitness goals and fitness levels, once you have scheduled a workout into one of you client’s calendars you can then choose to “copy this workout plan” to another one of your client’s profile’s.
BUT BE CAREFUL!
Do not become one of those trainers that just puts every client through the same workout, as this will come back and bite you in the butt! The whole reason your client’s are training with you other than downloading a free “workout app” is to receive an individualized workout plan; however, this being said, I often still copy programs into a client’s schedule and then go back into the program and make minor changes to better suit the client’s needs. This is much easier and less time consuming than creating a whole new workout every time you have to re-schedule a client. The best of both worlds 🙂
You never want to your client’s to feel like just another number in your pool of clients, and making sure you don’t keep it generic will help prevent this. You never want to get an email from a client like this: “I told you a bunch of times I don’t have access to a TRX and I don’t want to workout on Friday’s, but you still added TRX exercises to my FRIDAY workout?” LOL (not an actual email I have received – just an example I swear!! :))
BONUS TIP:
When you start to handle many client’s at a time, it’s hard to remember all details about every client, so be sure to take notes in the clients profile “trainer notes” section with certain details like this:
- What days they prefer to workout.
- Which equipment they do or do not have access too.
- Any injuries they have reported to you that will be important to remember when prescribing exercises.
- Their long and short term goals.
- Certain things they have told you in conversation such as “I really don’t like working out with machine weights at the gym because they are too busy” – be sure not to add machines to their workouts!
It’s all about creating systems to make your life easier and save yourself lot’s of time and brain power! This is very important in remaining sane as well as having more time to work on building your business rather than running it!
Have a great week everyone!!
