Habits are daily lifestyle actions that trainers can assign to clients in order to encourage them to become the best versions of themselves. These habits can be as simple as asking a client to eat protein with every meal, or to not use their phone before bed.
Through the repetition and the low effort involved , habits can quickly become embedded into your client’s behavior—leading to bigger, sustainable lifestyle changes.
Ultimately, healthy living starts with healthy habits — because we all know goals aren’t achieved overnight, and success doesn’t happen in an instant. And, we’re not the only ones who think this!

We’ve asked Jaymie to share some thoughts with us on healthy habits and how to approach them. Here’s what he had to say:
You’ve likely heard the quote “show me your habits and I’ll show you your future”. And this couldn’t be more true. You are what you repeatedly do.
So, why are habits so important? I like to break it down into 3 pillars:
Pillar #1:
Outcomes & Goals: What everyone says they want!
Example: “I want to lose 20, 30, or 50 pounds”.
Our goals help give us direction on what we want to achieve. But how do we achieve these goals? That takes us to the next pillar.
Pillar #2:
Processes: What habits & systems do I need to achieve my outcome-based goals?
Example: Implementing a new exercise routine, walking more, eating a more nutritious diet, etc.
Pillar #3:
Identity: Building these habits means focusing on the type of person you wish to become rather than the outcome you wish to achieve. This is how you truly make a sustainable change.
Simply put, people who lose weight and successfully keep it off are those with successful weight loss habits.
The power to change
Here’s a small section from the book Atomic Habits by James Clear:
“Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement. In the same way that money multiplies through compound interest, the effects of your habits multiply as you repeat them. They seem to make little difference on any given day and yet the impact they deliver over the months and years can be enormous.”
So my question to you is…
Will your current habits make your life better or worse over the next 12 months? Be honest with yourself, and know if you don’t like the answer YOU have the power to change it.
