One of the most important parts about being a business owner is making sure you continue to improve your services, grow your business and never get comfortable. Even if you feel your business is doing well at the moment, there is always someone coming up ready to steal your glory (at least you should be thinking like that).
Running a successful personal training business greatly relies on client retention and referrals, which usually goes hand-in-hand with client satisfaction through results. This is especially important in the online personal training business because of the lack of direct contact with clients and the need to find alternate ways to motivate and coach them to ensure they are getting results.
Continuing to build your brand through educating yourself, networking, and improving your client experience is key to running a successful online personal training business (or any business for that matter).
Here are 3 Ways to Stay on Top of Your Game & Continue to Grow Your Business for Years to Come:
1. Use your current clients as Quality Control
This is something that I feel is key to finding out if you are doing a good job, if your clients are happy, and what areas of your business you can improve on. Why not go directly to the source (aka the people paying for your services)? This could be done by sending out a little online survey (there are many websites that allow you to create your own survey and send them out to as many email addresses as you like) or even a simple Facebook page post asking how clients are liking a certain new service or asking for suggestions.
Asking your current client’s about your services let’s them know you care and will help you fix any problems in your current business structure.
2. Continue to Educate Yourself
Attending seminars and conferences is a great way to stay educated on new training protocols and research, but is also a great way to network with other people in the same boat as you. Building a network of people in the same business can be a great way to problem solve by learning from other’s mistakes or getting advice from people going through the same scenarios as you.
Reading books, current research articles, and popular blogs from top trainers in your network are also ways to continue to educate yourself.
3. Read Books Outside of Fitness
Although it is important to continue to educate yourself on topics directly related to your field of work, it is also important to read books related to business development and personal development, for example. There are many business professionals who host very informative blogs about these topics, find a few reputable people in each field to follow and subscribe to their email lists for tips and tricks of the trade. (Remember they don’t necessarily have to be from the fitness field).
For online training you might even want to educate yourself further in online marketing and building SEO to expand your website’s ability to be found online, thus increasing your number of potential clients.
